In Moscow a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council (CSC) opened yesterday timed to the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 10th anniversary of the CSTO establishment. The Declaration adopted by the heads of state reflects the main aspects of cooperation between the member countries over this lapse and also the long-term outlook for it.

A delegation of Kazakhstan People’s Assembly headed by its deputy chairman and head of the KPA secretariat of the Presidential Administration Eraly Tugzhanov paid a visit to the Republic of Chechnya of the Russian Federation.

May 30-31 Astana will be hosting the IV Congress of world and traditional religions’ leaders that is of great momentum in strengthening of global cooperation and constructive inter-religious dialogue, cooperation and tolerance.

In the first half of this year a center to promote the state language and Association of craftsmen will be organized under the Akmola Kazakhstan People’ Assembly (AKPA). And there is a solid foundation for this in the regional center - 41 ethno-cultural associations have been registered there, which fruitfully and purposefully work on the development of cultures, languages, customs and traditions of their people, paying much attention to the state language, culture and traditions of the Kazakhs.

Majilis speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin and chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin signed yesterday a coop agreement between the two countries’ supreme legislative bodies.
